UN human rights chief expresses concern about
Kashmir situation, asks Centre to ease lockdown
United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights
Michelle Bachelet on Monday expressed concern about the situation in J&K,
and said NRC verification process in Assam has caused great uncertainty and
anxiety to the people of the state. Bachelet asked India and Pakistan to ensure
that the human rights of the people of Kashmir were respected and protected. In
her opening statement at 42nd session of the Human Rights Council, Bachelet
said her office continued to receive reports on the human rights situation on
both sides of LoC. “I am deeply concerned about the impact of recent actions by
the Govt of India on the human rights of Kashmiris, including restrictions on
internet communications and peaceful assembly, and the detention of local
political leaders and activists,” she said in her statement. The UN Human Rights
chief said it was important that the Kashmiri people were consulted and engaged
in any decision-making processes that has an impact on their future. “While I
continue to urge the Govts of India and Pakistan to ensure that human rights
are respected and protected, I have appealed particularly to India to ease the
current lockdowns or curfews; to ensure people’s access to basic services; and
that all due process rights are respected for those who have been detained,”
Bachelet added.Bachelet said Assam’s NRC has caused great uncertainty and
anxiety after more than 19 lakh people were excluded from the final list of the
updated citizens’ database, published on Aug. 31. The number of people left out
comprise around 6% of Assam’s entire population, 2 times the number of Rohingya
refugees in Bangladesh, and the population of Nagaland. She appealed to Indian Govt
to ensure due process during the appeals, prevent deportation or detention, and
ensure people were protected from statelessness.scroll

Pakistan hands over dossier on Indian 'support to
terrorism':TOI
With entering full throttle mode, Islamabad is
throwing all that it has got into it. And possibly, what it hasn't too.
Multiple sources confirmed to TOI that Islamabad last week handed India a
dossier which, it claimed, comprised information about support to terrorist
activities in Pakistan by Indian agencies. Dossier was dismissed by Indian
officials as a web of lies and propaganda meant to facilitate Pakistan's smear
campaign against India. While it's not clear yet what was the immediate provocation
for the dossier, according to Indian authorities, there could be several
reasons, including an effort by Pakistan to hedge against a terror attack in
India by drawing a false equivalence. It is perhaps meant also to blunt India's
concerns, expressed repeatedly before Pakistan, that the latter may use the
Kartarpur Corridor to fan pro-Khalistan sentiments. One reason why the Kartarpur
meeting could not finalise all details last week was Pakistan's refusal to
allow Indian consular officials to accompany pilgrims. Timesofindia

Pak, China call for dialogue to resolve Kashmir issue
Pakistan and China on Sunday said Kashmir dispute
needed to be resolved through talks even as Beijing reiterated its support to
safeguarding Islamabad’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, independence and
national dignity, reported Express Tribune. The statement came two days after
Pakistan PM Imran Khan said the Indian Govt’s decision to remove J&K’s
special constitutional status had challenged Islamabad’s “security and
integrity”.Islamabad and Beijing issued a joint press release after talks
between the two sides during Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s two-day visit

If we pick up 5, we keep one… just a few hundred
with us: J&K DGP
Srinagar: Dilbag Singh, who has been J&K DGP
for about a year now, says raising slogans is not always an expression of anger
in Srinagar. In an interview to Indian Express over a month after the clampdown
in the state, the police chief says the detention rate is much lower than the
pick-up rate. Police have used community bonds to pick up and then immediately
release some 300 stone-pelters in the capital during the period, he says, and
in the process successfully engaged with 3,000 people. Responding to a question
over detention rate, DGP said, "figures are not specific, they change
every day. Only thing is that our detention rate is much lesser compared to our
pick-up rate. If we pick up 5, we keep only one and the rest are released under
community bonds. We have just a few hundred with us. It’s not a very high
figure. Political people who are under house arrest and such are not more than
35. With them, there was a concern that they might provoke people. So the
administration decided that they should be restrained and it is for their
security as well."indianexpress
J&K: Woman Journalist faces abuses by forces
On Sunday, a woman journalist had to go through
virtual hell in Kashmir, reported The Telegraph. Rifat Mohidin was deeply
scared on Sunday when the police rained its batons on her car as she sat
inside, crying through it all; when all she did was just ask the policemen not
to be rude to her. She is a correspondent for The Tribune, based in Chandigarh.
She had abuses being hurled at her for the simple mistake of expecting somebody
to be polite, reported The Telegraph.“I had never before heard the kind of
abuses they hurled at me. They battered my car with their batons, although the
windows were spared. I started crying but none dared come to my rescue. I’m
still in shock. I have already had a tough time convincing my family that I was
safe as a journalist even during these times. If I tell them what happened
today, they might not allow me to continue,” Rifat said. Rifat said that on her
way, she was stopped at 15 points even though it was just a 3km stretch from
Rajbagh to the media centre.“At Jahangir Chowk, security forces were adamant
that I should return. I urged them not to be rude to me. This infuriated them
and what followed was hell. For several minutes they kept hitting my car and
abused me and my family. “I told them I had a curfew pass but they would not
listen. I did not know what to do. Eventually, 1 CRPF man was kind enough to
ask me to drive on. I parked my car somewhere and was in tears all the way to
media centre.” she shared with Telegraph. Even though people noticed, with so
many curfews and so many horror stories floating about the army; everybody was
scared to help. She heard people say it was ‘zulm’ but they were too fearful to
help. As times are already restrictive and stifling in Kashmir, with many
journalists still waiting on their “curfew passes”, it has now become scary, especially
for journalists.nationalherald
Abolition of Art.370 not in national interest:Yogendra
Panchkula :Swaraj India’s Jan Sarokar Abhiyan, 9-day-long
tour led by the party’s national president Yogendra Yadav, reached Panchkula on
Sunday. While addressing a press conference in the city, replying to a query
posed by Chandigarh Newsline on the abrogation of Article 370, Yadav said,
“Decision, taken by the Centre is not in the national interest. The move is not
in the long term interest of people of J&K and the rest of India. The step
taken was not just an incorrect procedure but will also be regretted by the
country in the years to come.” He further said, “Imagine if the same is done to
Haryana or Punjab. Not only without taking note of what its citizens want, but
also by locking them up in their own houses, while claiming normalcy.”Speaking
about the legal and constitutional issues related to the matter, he said, “The
constitution of India does allow the Govt to take such steps, however, even
when required, the state assembly has to be referred. Here, the Govt had
already dissolved the state assembly and only discussed the matter with the
Centre appointed governor.”indianexpress
Posters on benefits in S. Kashmir, courtesy Army
Srinagar :IN the days since the revocation of
special status to J&K, the Army has put up and distributed posters in parts
of South Kashmir, explaining to the local people the benefits of abrogation of
Article 370. Lt Gen KJ Dhillon,
responding to a question about whether the Army was driving the information
campaign on its own or if the effort was being directed by the Centre, said at
a press conference on Sept.4: “There is no organised campaign.”“For the last 30
years, Army has been involved in Sadbhavana activities, lot of interaction with
opinion-makers, the moulvis, teachers, students and sarpanches, for the benefit
of the area. As also to get from them what is to be done for the benefit of the

Amit Shah at NEDA meet: Not just Assam, intend to
expel illegal immigrants from entire country
New Delhi : Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday
said the Govt intended to expel all illegal immigrants not just from Assam but
the entire country even as he assailed the Congress for alienating the
northeast from the rest of the nation.Addressing the fourth conclave of the
North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) in Guwahati, Shah said, “Our intention is
to expel illegal immigrants from the entire country and not just Assam.”Shah
further alleged the prolonged militancy in the region was due to the apathy of
successive Congress Govts. “Congress Govts sowed the seeds of strife in the
northeast. The party did not care for the northeast and because of that
militancy flourished. It always believed in the policy of divide and rule,” PTI

Some errors in NRC's final list, govt should
remove those before moving ahead:RSS
Pushkar: RSS on Monday said there
are "some errors" in the final list of NRC in Assam and the Govt
should remove those before moving forward, but asserted that the exercise is a
welcome step.Concerns were raised at the RSS' three-day annual coordination
meeting with its affiliates on the first day of the meet on Saturday over
several genuine people being left out of the final list of NRC in Assam,
majority of whom they claimed are Hindus, sources said.BJP's general secretary
Ram Madhav, who is also party's incharge for all the seven northeastern states,
has briefed the meeting about the NRC exercise carried out in Assam and its
final list. On final day of Sangh's coordination meet,RSS joint general
secretary Dattatreya Hosabale described NRC as a "complicated and a
complex issue" as names of many Bangladeshi illegal immigrants are in

3 declared foreigners dropped from NRC
Guwahati: 3 members of a family have been dropped
from the final NRC after the police registered a case against errant officials
for including the trio despite their having been declared foreigners by a
Foreigners’ Tribunal (FT) 3 years ago. FT no.3 in central Assam’s Morigaon
district had in 2016 declared Jubeda Begum and her three children as
foreigners. All 4 have been absconding since. But the final NRC published on
Aug.31 included the names of Jubeda Begum, her son Jahar Ali and daughter
Sahida Begum while the other son — Giasuddin Ahmed — was excluded. Assam Public
Works, a Guwahati-based NGO and one of the parties in NRC case in the Supreme
Court, had on Sept.4 filed an FIR against the trio as well as NRC officials
involved in the inclusion of their names in the final NRC.NRC authorities on
Saturday updated online data on inclusions and exclusions to show the status of
trio of declared foreigners as “reject”. NRC authorities, however, did not
offer any official clarification. FT no.3 had disposed of Jubeda Begum and her
children’s case ex parte. The order copy of the tribunal said they did not turn
up in the court despite multiple notices. thehindu
Maharashtra denies building detention centre for
illegal immigrants
After NRC Assam declared over 19 lakh people as
illegal migrants, speculation has been rife over the next step for those not
included in the final list. Now, the excluded people will have to approach
Foreigners Tribunal where they will be required to prove their citizenship. The
subsequent process involves either detention or freedom for the appellant by FTs.In
a similar situation, Maharashtra Home Ministry is learnt to have written to
Navi Mumbai planning authority to inquire about land for building detention
centres for illegal migrants in the state. CIDCO has reportedly received a
letter from state administration that has sought a 2-to-3 acre plot in Nerul, a
residential area in Navi Mumbai. The Ministry, on the other hand, has denied
sending any letter.newsx
Take Northeast into confidence on Citizenship

Home Minster Amit Shah that the Northeast has fears on the Citizenship
(Amendment) Bill and urged him to take all the States of the region into
confidence before bringing in legislation again.Addressing fourth conclave of
NEDA here in the presence of Shah, Sangma questioned whether the Centre will
bypass discussions with the States before reintroducing the Bill.“What will
happen after CAB? Will people continuously come from Bangladesh? Will there be
any deadline or a continuous flow? We in Northeast have such fears,”Sangma
said.He requested the Centre to invite all stakeholders to discuss and arrive

People’s Tribunal slams Supreme Court over NRC
New Delhi :A citizens’ jury, including former
Supreme Court judges Madan B Lokur and Kurian Joseph and former chief justice
of Delhi High Court AP Shah, has strongly indicted the apex court in its
handling of NRC issue in Assam.“The Supreme Court has erroneously equated
migration with external aggression and dehumanised migrants,” the jury observed
after a 2-day public hearing on the updation of NRC.“Despite the scale of the
exercise, the judiciary’s insistence on setting deadlines has increased the
pressure on both the process and people involved,”jury added.indianexpress
NRC process is especially discriminatory towards
women?
“My wife Sita Devi’s name is not on the list. Her
legacy papers have to come from her father. But, he is not alive. Earlier, no
one would have birth or death certificates. My son’s and daughter-in-law’s
names are there on the list,” says a wistful 60-year-old Rahendra Hajong, who
lives in a hutment in Camp Bazaar. They have papers from 1966 and all of them
settled in the area before 1966. Camp Bazaar is one of the refugee camps in
Goalpara and several indigenous communities- Hajong, Koch, Banai and Garo –
live here. Most of them had migrated from East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) in
1964. Sita’s is not an isolated case in the area. Women in most families have
been excluded.“Most of us are poor.We have not studied much or gone to school.
How do we get the documents that they require? We had a few papers and we
submitted that. But, it looks like the officials don’t want to acknowledge
those,” explains Sita Devi’s husband. Process followed by NRC is especially
exclusionary and discriminatory towards women. There is no gender balance or
justice in process of identifying the so-called ‘foreigners.’ It put already
disadvantaged women through a completely arbitrary process.nationalheraldindia

Imam, wife murdered in Haryana’s Sonipat
A couple was found murdered in Ganaur in Sonipat
district of Haryana in the early hours of Sunday. Police told The Quint the
deaths of Imam Mohammad Irfan (40) and his wife Yasmin (25) are being treated
as ‘blind murders’ for now. The murder took place in Manik Majri village
between 11 pm and 4:30 am in the night, but there was no sign of robbery at the
house of the couple, the police said. They also said there was no land
dispute.Irfan had been working as an Imam for nearly 4 years and had married Yasmin
alias Meena, a year ago, in the same mosque.FIR filed by one of the villagers,
Khursheed stated that the Imam recites the call to prayer (azaan) every morning
at 5:00 am, but no azaan was heard on Sunday morning, which roused
suspicion. The people discovered the dead bodies of the couple around 5 am when
they started coming in for morning prayers. The police said that the murder was
carried out with a sharp object.“There was a fight between two groups in the
village on Saturday evening. Imam intervened and asked people to resolve the
dispute but one of the groups threatened him of consequences. We are suspecting
they might have murdered couple," villagers said, according to HT. A case

this as blind murder case as of now. Nothing was taken from victim’s house
hence we have ruled out any robbery angle. No land dispute angle is also

No Political Party Wants to Address Concerns of

However, Special IGP Abdur Rahman, currently posted as chief of Maharashtra

Left panel clean sweep expected in JNUSU polls, results
await HC nod: Indian Express
New Delhi :As per the last counting leads made
public by Election Committee (EC), United Left Panel seemed to be heading for a
sweeping victory in JNUSU polls. Declaration of final results has been stayed
by the Delhi High Court due to pending petitions. Two students had approached
the HC arguing that Lyngdoh Committee Rules were not being followed during
polls. The court then directed JNU not to notify the result till the next date
of hearing, Sept.17. EC Saturday had
decided that the last 150 votes for the Central Panel seats would not be
announced, so as to not violate the HC order. On Sunday, it withheld from
announcing over 700 votes —5,050 of 5,762 votes polled were announced. On all 4
positions, Left Panel alliance — comprising SFI, DSF, AISA and AISF — seemed to
be way ahead of the runner up.For the post of president, SFI’s Aishe Ghosh was
leading ahead of Jitendra Suna from BAPSA. If the HC accepts the results, SFI
would get the president’s post after 13 years.Similarly, on the post of general
secretary, AISA’s Satish Chandra Yadav was leading, followed by ABVP’s
Sabareesh P A. At the posts of vice-president, DSF’s Saket Moon was leading,
followed by ABVP’s Shruti Agnihotri. At joint secretary too, ABVP’s Sumant
Kumar Sahu was trailing behind AISF’s Mohd Danish. Remaining 700 votes would
decide who comes second, BAPSA or ABVP.In the 2 posts that BAPSA is contesting
in alliance with Fraternity, inspired by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, it is in close
contest with ABVP. At president, Suna was ahead of ABVP’s Manish Jangid.
Similarly, on the post of general secretary, Fraternity’s Waseem RS was
trailing behind ABVP’s Sabareesh. Suna said he was expecting BAPSA to perform
better: “Left’s propaganda against Jamaat seems to have worked. We need to work
better and make inroads in School of Languages, which is their stronghold.”
Moon lander may not spring back to life: experts
Bengaluru:Experts have said that time was running
out for the moon lander Vikram and the possibility of re-establishing
communication with it looked “less and less probable”.A senior official
associated with the mission said, “Progressively... as time goes by... it’s
difficult [to establish link].” However, with the “right orientation”, it can
still generate power and recharge batteries with solar panels, he said.“But it
looks less and less probable, progressively,” official said on condition of
anonymity. Another top ISRO official said “hard-landing” of Vikram on the lunar
surface had made the task of linking again with it that much difficult as it
might not have the “right orientation” and would not have landed on its 4 legs.
“Impact shock may have damaged the lander,” he said. Lander was designed to execute
a soft landing on the lunar surface and to function for one lunar day, which is
equivalent to about 14 earth days. The location of the Vikram module “proves
beyond doubt” that the orbiter is functioning well, space expert Ajay Lele
said. “Orbiter is the main element of the mission as it will work for more than
a year,” he said.He said that with orbiter working fine, 90-95% of mission
objective had been achieved.PTI

Tyranny, chaos and anarchy describe 100 days of
Modi govt: Congress
Congress has launched an all out attack on the
Modi Govt alleging that there had been "no development" in the first
100 days of its second term, with Rahul Gandhi saying there was a "glaring
lack" of leadership, direction and plans where it is needed the most -- to
turnaround a "ravaged economy".Congress' senior spokesperson Kapil
Sibal, addressing a press conference, also alleged that govt's 100 days in
office have been characterised by "arrogance, uncertainty and vendetta
politics".He attacked dispensation over issues such as the state of the
economy, the situation in Kashmir, NRC and action by probe agencies against
opposition leaders. Taking a dig at Modi Govt, Gandhi "congratulated"
it on 100 days of "no development". "Congratulations to the Modi
govt on #100DaysNoVikas, the continued subversion of democracy, a firmer
stranglehold on a submissive media to drown out criticism and a glaring lack of
leadership, direction and plans where it's needed the most -- to turnaround our
ravaged economy," he tweeted. Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi
said Modi Govt is mum after "ruining the economy" and alleged it is
trying to hide the grim situation in country." Sibal said that ED, Income
Tax Dept and CBI are being misused."Where there is evidence against their
own people, they are sheltering them, and action is being taken against
opposition leaders against whom there is no evidence," Sibal said. Govt's
arrogance reflects in legislations being passed without parliamentary scrutiny
as well as in decisions such as abrogation of Article 370, dilution of RTI,
criminalisation of triple talaq, merger of banks and RBI made to transfer 1.76
lakh crore record surplus to Govt, he said. Nationalheraldindia
Reservation should continue till beneficiaries
need it: RSS
Reservation should continue till “its
beneficiaries feel it is needed”, RSS joint general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale
said while addressing the media on the last day of Sangh’s 3-day coordination
in Pushkar. Hosabale, however, added that the organisation totally supports
reservation as mandated by the Constitution. “There is social and economic
disparity in our society and therefore reservation is required…we totally
support the reservation as mandated by the Constitution,” he said. Earlier in
August, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat stoked a controversy when he called for a
discussion between those in favour of reservation and those against it. Bhagwat
said he had spoken on reservation earlier as well, but it created a lot of
noise and whole discussion diverted from the actual issue. Those who favour
reservation should speak keeping in mind the interests of those who are against
it, and similarly those who oppose it should do vice-versa, he said.He said
that discussion on reservation results in sharp actions and reactions every
time whereas there is a need for harmony in the different sections of the
society on this approach. indianexpress

Booked for report on Dalit family: Named

Bijnor :“Yeh makaan bikau hai (This house is for

the only Valmiki family in a Bijnor village has resulted in an FIR against two
local journalists. While the Bijnor police said FIR was registered for “fake
news reports claiming that a family” in Titarwala Basi village “was not allowed
to collect water from a village hand pump”, Lokesh Devi Valmiki, who lives with
her four children, said she reached out to journalists in Bijnor because she
was not allowed to access drinking water by other residents of the village. In Dalit-majority
Titarwala Basi village, hers is the only Valmiki family. Following the news
reports, the journalists now face charges of making assertions prejudicial to
national integration and causing public nuisance, after a magisterial inquiry
found journalists guilty of spreading “false” and “negative” news.FIR against
them records Devi as saying that journalists had written the statement on the
wall, saying it would help her get justice. “What the journalists wrote on my
house is wrong. I told them not to do it but they still took photos and videos
of it,” FIR records her as saying. Devi said that she did tell officers who
visited her home that the journalists had written the statement but that she
had said it out of fear. “A havaldar had told me that we would go to jail if we
had written it, so I said that to the officers. But we wrote the statement, and

Gujarat:Hindu, Muslim Rajputs to hold unity
meeting
Ahmedabad: In a first, the city is going to host
a community gathering where both Hindu and Muslim Rajputs will congregate under
the banner of Samast Gujarat Rajput Samaj (All Gujarat Rajput Community). The
aim of the event, which will be held on Sept.15 at Sabarmati Riverfront near
Nehru Bridge, is ostensibly to promote unity and serve the nation. The
organizers have already obtained police permission for the event. Vikramsinh
Maharaul, member of the executive committee of the consortium, said that they
have been holding such programmes to bring Hindu and Muslim Rajputs together
for 15 years. “Such events revive cultural values in Muslim Rajputs whose
forefathers were converted by force and allurement 500 years ago ,” said
Maharaul, a resident of Miyagam in Vadodara. “Later, we as an organization gave
a pace to this kind of meetings where Molesalams (a Rajput community who follow
Islam) participate in great numbers.”On the need for such events, Maharaul
claimed, “We want Rajputs from both religions to adhere to their culture.
Muslim Rajputs follow different way of worshipping, but many of them still
follow the culture of Rajputs in marriage and other occasions.”Satyam Rao, who
claimed to be associated with RSS in Vadodara and involved in organizing such
events, said that this is 10th such event and first in Ahmedabad city. When
asked about the role of RSS in the event, Rao said, “This is not about RSS
only, community leaders from both the religions have been holding it. RSS just
wanted to bring unity in the country so that India can gain its lost place in
the world.”He said that RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat had in 2013 participated in one
such even held in Vadodara, and this time joint secretary of the Sangh, Krishna
Gopalan will attend the event.”TOI

Faizabad mosque opens food bank to feed needy
The northern state of UP, which is lately in the
news for serving roti and salt to students as part of the ambitious mid-day
meal programme, is among the regions that top the number of poor and unemployed
in the country. In a positive move, as reported by NewsBits, a mosque in
Faizabad has started a Food Bank, offering free food to the poor and
needy. The aim, according to the report,
was to help the poor and the homeless apart from those who are sick or arrive
from other towns. Little did the organisers realise that there would be such a
huge support for the decision. Food Bank has been executed at the bus stand in
Faizabad and it has been started by Jama Masjid, Tat Shah. The distribution of
food begins in the evening at dinner time and it is aimed at people from all
sections of society. It is also worth noting that the Food Bank has been set up
in the state of UP where communal sentiments are ruling the roost and an
increasing tendency of demonising Islam has come to the fore in recent years. indiatimes

Israel minister vows next Gaza offensive to
include extrajudicial executions
Israeli Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz has vowed
that a supposedly imminent offensive on the occupied Gaza Strip will see the
extrajudicial executions of Palestinians, reported Arutz Sheva.Speaking in an
interview with Reshet Bet yesterday, Katz claimed that an assault on Gaza is
inching closer, blaming Iranian interference. “We have recently identified a
growing fingerprint of [Quds Force commander] Qasem Soleimani and the Iranian
axis in terrorist activities in Gaza, using new measures and the direct management
of terrorist activities through Islamic Jihad,” Katz said. Israeli officials
have often accused Islamic Jihad in the Gaza Strip of acting as an arm of
Tehran.“It brings us very close to a comprehensive Israeli campaign against the
terrorist organisations in Gaza,” Katz said.”middleeastmonitor

facility in Tehran showed traces of uranium that Iran has yet to explain, 2
unnamed diplomats told Reuters, although they could not say whether the
materials predated 2015 nuclear deal, or were more recent. The report published
on Sunday said one of the diplomatic sources, however, acknowledged that uranium
traces were not highly enriched, meaning they were not purified to a level
anywhere close to that needed for weapons. The news comes as Iranian Foreign
Minister Javad Zarif called on Cornel Feruta, acting chief of International
Atomic Energy Agency and his inspectors "to observe the principles of
professional work, maintain confidentiality of activities, and keep doing its

Brexit: UK Parliament suspension to go ahead
later
5-week suspension of British Parliament will
begin later, after MPs are expected to again reject govt calls for a snap
election. Opposition MPs confirmed they would not back the push for a 15
Oct.poll, insisting a law blocking a no-deal Brexit must be implemented first.Ministers
have called the law "lousy" and say they will "test to the
limit" what it requires of them.Boris Johnson has been warned he could
face legal action for flouting it.At present, UK law states that the country
will leave EU on 31 Oct, regardless of whether a withdrawal deal has been
agreed with Brussels or not. Meanwhile, Downing Street confirmed that the
expected prorogation - or suspension - of Parliament until 14 Oct.would begin
at end of today 's sitting. It means MPs will not get another chance to vote for
an early election until after then, meaning a poll would not be possible until
late Nov at the earliest. BBC
