Jamaat-e-Islami Hind opposes proposal to start course on ‘’Islamic
Terrorism’’ in JNU
New Delhi: Jamaat-e-Islami
Hind (JIH) has opposed the proposal to start a course called ‘’Islamic Terrorism’’
in JNU.
In a statement to the media today, JIH Secretary
General Mohammed Salim Engineer said: “ We oppose the proposal to start a
course in JNU by the name ‘Islamic Terrorism’. Associating the noble religion
of Islam to terror indicates either a deep ignorance about Islam or it is
deliberate attempt by some vested interests to malign this great religion and
hurt the sentiments of its followers. Either way; the proposal is a disgrace to
the highly regarded institution like JNU and there must be immediate steps from
the concerned authorities to roll back the idea.”
Engineer Salim said, “Currently
Jamaat-e-Islami Hind would like to wait for the answers sought by Delhi
Minorities Commission from JNU regarding how the proposal was sought to be
introduced as it would expose those who initiated this mischievous idea. Jamaat
would like to know what was the due process adopted for its introduction and
what would be its syllabus? Later Jamaat will support other like-minded
organizations that are going to challenge it legally in the court of
law’’.
