Crackdown on Zakir Naik:
IRF website blocked, NIA to seek Interpol red corner notice against preacher
New Delhi: Days after
declaring Zakir Naik’s NGO IRF ‘illegal’, NIA is likely to seek Interpol red
corner notice against the preacher. NIA will summon Zakir Naik and approach
Interpol seeking red corner notice against him. The authorities have also
blocked the website of IRF saying the content present is objectionable. Govt will
soon take more action against Facebook page and YouTube channels of Naik.If Naik
doesn’t return to India to face trial, NIA could issue a non-bailable warrant
against him. NIA would also ask Interpol to issue a reed corner notice against Naik,
which will push the Saudi Arabia to hand him over to India, said TOI report. In
order to make strong case against Naik,the agency will also examine the cases
of 50 individuals who were allegedly drawn to violent extremism after listening
to his sermons.NIA, which is probing the funds received by Naik’s organisations
from different countries, raided multiple locations linked to IRF, an office of
Peace TV, owned by him, residences of various office bearers of NGO and TV
channel, and froze a bank account. An IRF account in the DCB’s Dongri Branch
has been sealed by NIA from where NGO pays salaries of its school staffers and
manages other expenses. Meanwhile, Mobin Solkar, counsel for Naik, said the
case filed by NIA against his client under the UAPA is illegal. India.com

has said FIR filed against Naik and the organization was illegal, and rejected
the allegations against them as baseless.“FIR is illegal because another FIR
had been registered in 2012, for the same crime, regarding inflammatory speeches
and offending different religious groups. It had been investigated and the
matter had been closed. Dr. Naik has also stated that this is being
re-engineered to suit the decision of the NIA. Also, it holds little meaning,
because the FIR was registered after the ban on IRF,” said an IRF member who

Mumbai: NIA continued its
search operations on the premises of Zakir Naik-run IRF and associate
organisations in Mumbai even on Sunday night.NIA will also examine the funding
aspects of Islamic International School (IIS).Imran Qureshi, principal of the
school's Mumbai branch, while speaking to DNA said that institution has been
"unnecessarily involved" in the probe and the students will suffer.
"We are not teaching students anything bad here. We have a very good
faculty teaching Maths, Science and Islamic Studies too are a part of our
syllabus,"said Qureshi. Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind on Sunday defended
Naik and termed the case against him as a "witch-hunt to silence the voice
of all who exercise their Constitutional rights to profess and propagate

New Delhi: Members of the Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) held a
protest march here on Monday demanding action against those who assaulted JNU
scholar Najeeb Ahmed prior to his disappearance in October.The protestors, who
included students from JNU, Jamia Milia Islamia and AMU, among others, were
accompanied by Ahmed's mother Fateema Nafees."We want JNU authorities to
punish the three students -- Vikrant, Sunil and Ankit -- for assaulting Ahmed,
a fact which has been acknowledged in the Proctorial inquiry as well,"
Sadat Hussain, an SIO member from JNU told IANS. SIO is the students' wing of
Jamaat-e-Islami Hind."We also condemn the police for still not being able
to find Ahmed, who is missing for 36 days now," Hussain added.Another
student said that apart from seeking justice for Najeeb, this protest is also
against the changing face of the nation under the current dispensation. "This

Kolkata: Member of the
women’s wing of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) Asma Zehra on
Sunday said that PM Narendra Modi’s comments against triple talaq and
implementation of a uniform civil code had acted as a blessing in disguise for
Muslim women.“About 10 crore women, across the country, through a signature
campaign had expressed their support for the Muslim Personal Law and had also
said that they knew that the attempt to implement a uniform civil code was a
tool to interfere with Muslim Personal Law which is our constitutional right,”
Zehra said. She added that Modi’s attempt had helped lakhs of Muslim women to
be aware of the rules of ‘talaq’ and their rights during separation.Zehra also
said that to educate Muslim women further, there would be several technological
interventions in the near future.“A toll free helpline would be made available
for Muslim women in distress. Other than English and Urdu, it will be available
in eight regional languages and there will be experienced regional counsellors

which represents over 2.5 lakh senior officers from all nationalised,

has said that 11 bank officers have died in the last 12 days due to stress. The
demonetisation drive has taken a severe toll on bank employees' health. On
Friday, a 46-year-old bank official, working in SBI, in the Nellore district of
Andhra Pradesh died after collapsing, amid a rush of customers looking to

Rs 50K per week withdrawal from overdraft accounts
In a recent announcement,
RBI has today said that all overdraft and cash credit holders will now able to
withdraw up to Rs 50,000 in a week. As per the advancement, the holders of
current, overdraft and cash credit accounts operational from past 3 months and
more will now be able to withdraw up to Rs 50,000 cash in a week. As per RBI,
Indian banks have till now disbursed a total of about Rs 1.03 lakh crore cash
post the note ban announcement. People have deposited Rs 5.12 lakh crore in
banks and exchanged old currency notes worth Rs 33,000 crore since demonetisation
drive.However, recent enhanced withdrawal limit is not applicable for personal
overdraft accounts and the withdrawal may be further disbursed in Rs 2,000
denomination bank notes. Apart from the recent announcement, the govt has taken
various steps to increase the withdrawal limitations especially for farmers,
small traders and Group C employees of govt including equivalent levels in
defense and para military forces, railways and CPSEs after scrapping legal

New Delhi: Yatin Oza,
ex-BJP MLA, has written a letter to PM Narendra Modi alleging that prior information
of the demonetisation had been shared with favoured industrialists. The letter
posted on Facebook has gone viral as Oza was very close to PM at one time, and
gave BJP president Amit Shah his break in politics. Oza is a well known figure
in Gujarat having been part of the kitchen cabinet under then CM Modi, and
wielded local power. Oza had contested the Assembly elections first in 1995
from Sabarmati, and had appointed Shah as his election agent. He then
reportedly helped Shah get an Assembly ticket in the 1997 polls. More recently
he has joined the AAP, disgruntled at being marginalised in the BJP in recent
years. Interestingly, this letter follows another revelation by Oza earliet,
who claimed in a letter to AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal that he had been present
at a meeting between Amit Shah and Akbaruddin Owais where allegedly a deal had
been reached for the Bihar elections. He wrote, “I would like to draw your
attention about the meeting that took place between Amit Shah and Akbaruddin
Owaisi at former’s residence at 3am on 15th Sept. 2015. I was present in the
said meeting. A detailed discussion took place and it was agreed that Owaisi

In Kashmir, Nobody Is
Buying Parrikar’s Link Between Demonetisation and Fall in Stone Pelting

week, defence minister Manohar Parrikar made a statement attributing the
decline in cases of stone pelting against security forces in Kashmir, after
months of unrest, to govt’s announcement that Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes will no
longer be legal tender. While praising PM Narendra Modi for his “daring move”
to demonetise high-denomination currency, Parrikar said that after the
announcement, there have been no further instances of stone pelting.These

ago, a local Muslim cleric at Kodinji in Kerala’s Malappuram district suggested
to Anil Kumar, who had converted to Islam a few months ago and taken on the
name Faisal, that he should seek protection from the community. Faisal, 30,
turned down the suggestion, saying, “After embracing Islam, I have entrusted
everything to Allah. If they want to kill me, let them’’.Early morning on
Saturday, a day before he was to fly back to Saudi Arabia, where he had been
working as a driver for the last 6 years, Faisal was hacked to death by
unidentified men. He was on his way to the local railway station to pick up his
parents-in-law, who were coming from Neyyattinkara in Thiruvananthapuram. Although
police have not arrested anyone, sources said Faisal appeared to have been
targeted not only for embracing Islam but for encouraging others to do
so.Faisal, who belonged to an upper-caste Hindu Nair family, converted to Islam
8 months ago while he was in Riyadh. After he came home in August, he converted
his wife Priya, now Jesni, and 3 children, all below 10.Local sources in the

he was to leave for Saudi Arabia on Sunday, he asked a local Muslim leader to

committed suicide at his hostel room in an engineering college in Rajasthan
after he was told his admission stands cancelled. Family members of the

For the past 10 days,a
teenage Muslim girl who was kidnapped in Darbhanga district of Bihar has been
missing, but the local police remains clueless. Speaking with TCN, grandfather
of Rizwana,14, Mohammed Zubair said, “On Nov.11, my daughter was kidnapped from
our village, Baadh Samaula. We registered an FIR in Kewti Thana on Nov.13, but
nothing has happened since. SDO came yesterday and interrogated us, but they
are yet to question the boys who are the culprits. It seems they have paid a
bribe to the police. We are poor, where do we afford the money to the police?” Family
of Zubair is extremely poor and have to make do with working as casual labourers
in farms. According to Zubair, his granddaughter would pick leaves every day
from the nearby mango orchards, which would be used as fuel for cooking. On Nov.11
around 4 pm, she left to pick leaves.When she did not return, the family got
worried and started looking for the child. During the search, they were
informed by a 12-year-old boy that he had seen two boys from a nearby village
abduct the girl. The boy was very scared too. The parents of the girl have
since been in shock and refuse to speak to anyone.Zubair alleged that his
granddaughter was abducted by two Paswan boys from the nearby Manpur village. Same
boys have a criminal record that includes kidnapping, and the boy is also an

some alleged IS operatives in the Nampally court, requesting that they be
removed from solitary confinement in Chanchalguda jail, triggered a debate
whether terror suspects should be kept in solitary confinement. Ilyas Yazdani,
Ibrahim Yazdani, Habeeb Mohammed, Abdullah Bin Ahmed Al Amoodi, Muzaffar
Hussain Rizan, Mohammed Attaullah Rehaman -arrested in June have been
segregated and incarcerated in separate cells. Apart from not being able to
interact with each other, they were reportedly confined to their cells all
through the day and could not come out even for food. On Monday , they will
file yet another memo requesting the court to treat them as other prisoners as
a ruling on their earlier plea had not been delivered. Prisoner rights activist
Murali Karnam, a faculty with TISS, said jail authorities in exceptional
situations have the power to practice `Separate Confinement' but not solitary
confinement. In separate confinement, a prisoner is kept alone in a cell during
night-time but provided liberty to various things during the day . In solitary
confinement, the prisoner is kept in isolation 24X7. In reality, such accused
are kept in solitary confinement in jails in the name of separate confinement.
If a prisoner is kept in solitary confinement for a long, they may end up with
psychiatric problems." Accused are kept in a cell where there is no proper
ventilation. They are not being allowed to go out even for food. Food is
brought to their cells," MA Mujeeb, advocate who represents Rizwan and

according to HRW.In a statement released on Monday, US-based group urged govt to

images confirm that the destruction in Rohingya villages is far greater and in
more places than the govt has admitted,"

newly-elected Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ahmad for his involvement in

Coordinator of the investigation agency Abdul Hannan Khan said that the case
would be filed on the base of evidence found against Maqbul, who sworn in as
the Jamaat chief on Oct.17.“We have made significant progress in the
investigation,” Hannan said on Sunday.“The agency launched primary probe
against Maqbul following a recent news report. But, a latest news report,
published in the Dhaka Tribune, that published a letter of 1971, will help the
agency find evidence of war crimes during the investigation,” he said. The

that within three months of the enactment of new constitution, President should
