Centre trying to bring in
uniform civil code to nullify Islamic law, destroying nation’s plurality:
Muslim Personal Law Board threatens govt with internal war
The Muslim Personal Law
Board issued a stern warning to Prime Minister Modi asking the govt to prepare
for 'internal war.' Board issued the warning after reacting to the Law
Commission announcement to gauge public opinion on whether to introduce uniform
civil code in an ongoing bid to end the practice of triple talaq. The law
commission which has addressed the issue of abolishing 'Triple Talaq' has
invited the ire of the Muslim Personal Law Board. "Uniform Civil Code is
not good for this nation. There are so many cultures in this nation which have
to be respected. We are living in this country with an agreement held by the
constitution, which allowed us to practice our religion" Maulana Wali
Rehman, Secretary General of the Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) was quoted
as saying to reporters in New Delhi."In America, everyone follows their
personal laws and identity. How come our nation doesn't want to follow their
steps in this matter?," asked Rehman while also pointing out that there
are separate provisions for tribals in India. Rehmani also attacked Prime
Minister Modi and said that the move was an attempt to divert public’s
attention from failure of 30 months of the government’s functioning. Board also
hit out at PM Narendera Modi saying that this is an attempt by him to try and
hide the failures of his govt. “They
cannot protect India’s borders and seem to be fueling internal strife,” he
said. The members also claimed that Hindus practiced polygamy more than Muslims
and also that the cases of divorce were more among Hindus as per the census.Board
also asserted that all Muslims are united on the matter and that any attempt at
forcing the introduction of a uniform civil code can hamper internal peace.
According to the Hindustan times, India’s apex Muslim body hit out at the
government, accusing the Centre of trying to bring in a uniform civil code to
nullify Islamic law and destroying the nation’s plurality. “Modi has triggered
an internal war in this country. All Muslims will respond to this – in large
numbers,” the AIMPLB said. “You can’t impose a single ideology in India.”“We
are living in this country with an agreement held by the Constitution. The
Constitution has made us live and practice our religion. We won’t accept the
UCC at any cost. Maulana Arshad Madni, head of Darool Uloom, one of the biggest
institution of Muslim world, slammed Modi government for interfering religious
matters of Muslim community in order to impose law of a particular
religion.“Muslims equally participated in India’s freedom struggle, but their
participation is always underestimated. We are united and outrightly opposed
the Uniform Civil Court and affidavit filed by the Law Commission seeking
abolition of triple talaq,” said Maulana Arshad Madni. "All India Muslim

Law panel seeks opinion on
ending which it projects as 'evils' in 3 religions: TOI
Hyderabad: Law
Commission's exercise to formulate a Uniform Civil Code reached a critical
phase as it asked the citizens to give their views on ending several religious
practices and customs that had been branded anti-women in all three major
religions.Sending out a list of 16 questions to gauge public opinion and the
direction in which it should proceed, the Commission also asked whether to ban
or regulate polygamy? The question may appear aimed at ending the much
criticised practice of a Muslim man permitted to marry up to 4 women. But the
commission adds another question to it to end similar practices such as
Maitri-Karar.Maitri-Karar, even though banned by law, is still practised
sporadically in Gujarat. Through this, a married Hindu man signs a friendship
pact on stamp paper with another woman and brings her home to live together. Timesofindia
Congress says Uniform Civil
Code can’t be implemented, BJP calls its progressive
New Delhi:In the
face of strong opposition to Uniform Civil Code by Muslim outfits, Congress on
Thursday said its implementation would be impossible while BJP asserted that
the move is aimed at moving towards a progressive society. Other opposition
parties like JD(U) accused the BJP-led central government of trying to polarise
the people ahead of Assembly polls in several states, with leader of MIM
Asaduddin Owaisi saying that bringing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will “kill”
the diversity and plurality of India.BJP national secretary Sidharth Nath Singh
said the Law Commission is taking opinion of all the stakeholders on the issue
following which it will form a “considered opinion” and give it to the Supreme
Court.“Now it is for the Muslim Personal Law Board to consider whether they
want to be part of the stakeholders or they want to be an individual identity…
if Personal Law Board people are misinformed, I cannot do much about it,” he
said.JD(U) MP Ali Anwar asked the government why it was only focusing on
Muslims and said it is not the time to start such a debate. “They want to
polarise the society.”Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut said “for how long the Muslims
will stay away from the national mainstream. The Muslim Law Board should
support the UCC as it will help the community, especially the women to come out
of misery.“Our party’s stand is ‘one code, one law’ and it should be viewed as
a national issue rather than religious one.”In his reaction, Owaisi said those
pushing for UCC were not aware of India’s pluralism and diversity.PTI

Putin issues emergency call
to ALL Russians to return home amid WORLD WAR fears
Russia’s Vladimir Putin has
issued an emergency decree that all officials urgently repatriate any family
members living abroad amid fears the world is about to be plunged into a new global
conflict. According to reports, the Russian leader has told diplomats of all
ranks to “bring relatives home to the Motherland”. Administration staff,
politicians and public sector workers have been ordered to take their children
out of foreign schools immediately. Russian political analyst Stanislav
Belkovsky told the Daily Star: “This is all part of the package of measures to
prepare elites to some 'big war’.”The worrying development – which follows
after President Putin suddenly cancelled a visit to France – applies to all
state employees.Workers were reportedly told to pull their children out of
school immediately, even if it was in the middle of term.Anyone who fails to
act will put their chances of promotion at risk, local media reported. Putin's
cancellation is the latest deterioration in ties between Moscow and the West.
Among the recommendations is for students in foreign universities to shift to
Russian institutions. Older citizens should also return to Russia, diktat seen
by Znak.com apparently states. Sources said Russian officials were irritated by
the fact that the children of Russia’s political elite were being educated
abroad, while their parents were seen “talking about patriotism but surrounded
by Russia’s enemies”. Earlier, the Russian strongman said the US would have to
compromise in the war in Syria. He also launched a stinging attack on France,
accusing President Francois Hollande of deliberately luring Moscow into vetoing
a UN resolution on Syria and questioned whether Paris was doing the bidding of
the US. Express UK

Israel slammed for video
depicting Palestinians as home invaders who only recently arrived
Israel's Ministry of
Foreign Affairs has been criticised for sharing an "awful, warped piece of
propaganda" after it published a satirical video about the history of the
Jewish people. Titled "Welcome to the Home of the Jewish People,"
3-and-a-half minute long video depics Jacob, Rachel and their child, enjoying
life in "Land of Israel"."No matter who came knocking at the
door, Jews stayed put in their home-sweet-home, the Land of Israel, for 3,000
years," the post on the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs Facebook page
reads. However, the couple are interrupted by a knock at the door from "2
hipsters with well-groomed beards" who speak in an "ancient assyrian
language".After the Asyrrians take over the living room, Jacob and Rachel
move to their bedroom. "So it's now 750BC. In about 2,750 years, we'll
have some quiet here," Jacob jokes. The family are then interrupted again
by a procession of visitors who claim the house as their own, including Greeks,
Romans, Arabs, crusaders, Mamluks and Turks from the Ottoman Empire. There is
then another knock on the door as the British arrive, claiming the house in the
name of the British Empire. British then give them back their house "in
the name of the League of Nations".The couple celebrate the news, and
Jacob says: "Finally, a state of our own, the Land of
Israel."However, they are interrupted by a Palestinian couple knocking on
the door, who peer inside the house before the video ends."What an awful,
warped piece of propaganda," one person commented underneath the video.
"A complete and total erasure of Palestinians. Do you really think people
are this stupid?"The Independent
