Prophet slur in Marathi textbook after Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, SIO bring to

on Prophet Mohammed in a Class 5 CBSE approved Marathi textbook here on
Wednesday. Proprietor of Emkay & Sons, publishing books under the brand of
Orange City Publishers, Parvesh M.Neb on Wednesday issued the apology for the

Congress leader
Jyotiraditya Scindia today said in Lok Sabha that there should be
"plebiscite" in Kashmir as the situation in Valley has deteriorated
and PDP-BJP govt has "insulted" the "crown" of India.
"In Kashmir today, there is a need for plebiscite," he said using
Urdu word 'rai shumari' while initiating a discussion in the House on Kashmir
situation. "PDP-BJP govt has shed all the principles. Administration is
divided and the govt, which should support people, is using weapons against
them," Scindia said, adding "the wounds there can be healed only
through humanity."While attacking the Centre and state govt, the Chief
Whip of Congress said, "There is a need to create an environment of peace
and tranquality; growth and development.""The reality is that there
is an identity crisis in the state govt ...Today it is clear that there is a
political upheavel and terrorism is flourishing in J&K. 60% population in
the state is below 30 years of age. If we are not able to create opportunities
for them, we would be pushing them towards militancy," he said.He said the

tumult in Kashmir, speaks about human rights abuses in the Valley, how the
people’s narrative contradicts that of the State, and why the Indian media
focuses on the exodus and killing of Kashmiri Pandits, but not of other Hindus.
He said, "According to govt figures, there were only 150 militants in the
state last year. Do you need 700,000 soldiers to fight 150 militants?" He
added, "150 was the total number of militants present in the entire state.
From 2008, the total number of militants has never been more than 250. If you
compare the number of soldiers in the State to, say, Afghanistan, or other
conflict zones such as Iraq, Kashmir still remains the highest militarised zone
in the world."

Shamsuddin Qasmi: TOI
New Delhi: While Zakir
Naik's speeches are under the scanner for alleged radical content to influence
Muslim youth, NIA chargesheet against 16 men on Tuesday mentioned the names of
a few other Islamic preachers whose speeches/lectures influenced them towards
violent jihad. NIA chargesheet said one Suhail Ahmed received lectures on Islam
and jihad delivered by one Salman Nadvi of Nadvathul Ulama in Lucknow on
WhatsApp. Nadvi, NIA said, was a known supporter of Khilafat and IS. Suhail
also read jihadi magazines like 'Mahaana Shariyat', 'Afghan jihad' etc. Asif
Ali, listened to the 'bayans' (sermons) of Maulana Shamsuddin Qasmi in Tamil.
Qasmi is imam of Chennai Mecca Masjid, the NIA chargesheet said. NIA also
claimed a Pakistani weekly newspaper, Al-Qalam, which propagates anti-India
agenda and publishes material in favour of terrorists like Maulana Masood
Azhar, was read by them. Most of the news in Al-Qalam, NIA said, was rabidly
anti-India and pro-terrorists like Azhar.Azhar Khan, arrested by the NIA from
Bhopal, read some books of Masood Azhar and got influenced by his thoughts.
Then, one of his classmates, Abdul Rashid from Assam, brought him books written
by a Kashmiri girl, Sadia, wife of famous mujahideen 'Gazi Baba' (according to
arrested men) apart from reading the history of Afiya Siddiqi, a Pakistani
scientist. Azhar Khan was influenced by these books, the agency said.Shareef
Moiunuddin, read published material like 'Jihad ke Maasail', 'Al-Furkan Wal
Mizzan', 'Hijra to the Islamic State' and 'Book on Daesh'. Apart from that,
they were radicalised by Delhi-based Mufti Abdus Sami. While Sami has been

were not under the scanner or accused.

explain to them the hurdles in their development. It is also necessary to
facilitate a positive change in them and increase their role in social

should take to ensure better integration of the community. For schools, the
policy says the school education department should draft such chapters in the
syllabus that teach the essence and “true teachings”of every religion. “Include
chapters in text books with the aim of inculcating ideas essential for a
democratic society as per the provisions of the Constitution. Also include
chapters which will help in increasing tolerance in society,” it says. indian

10 months after 3 Muslim
men arrested on terror charges from Yavatmal , their bail hearings repeatedly
delayed
Throughout July, reports on
the arrests of Muslim terror suspects have been hitting the headlines with
alarming regularity. On Sept.25, 2015, in Yavatmal’s communally charged Pusad
town, 20-year-old Abdul Malik attacked 3 police constables with a kitchen knife
in the presence of several eye-witnesses, allegedly to avenge the state govt
for introducing a ban on beef. Over the next month, after interrogating Malik,
the state’s anti-terrorism squad made two more arrests from the town: that of
24-year-old Shoaib Khan, an alleged sympathiser of the banned SIMI, and
26-year-old Mujeeb-ur-Rahman, a priest and teacher at the local madrasa,
accused of radicalising young Muslims through his sermons. All three have been
lodged in Nagpur Central Jail. When Scroll.in visited Pusad in Dec.2015, no
charge sheets had been filed in the cases, but the police claimed to have
evidence that Malik’s attack on the constables was part of a larger terror
conspiracy masterminded by Rahman. 3 men’s lawyers, however, claimed that
Malik’s assault on the constables was an isolated incident and that Rahman and
Khan are innocent.Nearly 10 months later, the 3 men are still waiting to be
granted bail and their applications for the same have remained unprocessed due
to several delays. “The charge sheets against them were filed in February and
we began applying for bail soon after,” said Mir Nagman Ali, an advocate with
the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court and one of the lawyers representing
the three men. scroll.in

a two-year-delay, the govt of Myanmar
has finally released controversial data on religion from a 2014 census. The
results of the Myanmar Population and Housing Census had been on hold since
results were compiled, due to fears that they may inflame tensions between the
country's Buddhist and Muslim populations.Figures released Thursday show that
the country's Muslim population has fallen from 3.9 %
of the overall population in the 1983 census
to just 2.3 %
-- a figure that does not include around 1.2 million
mostly Rohingya Muslims in western Rakhine State -- who were not enumerated.AA

Saudi clerical body renews fatwa against Pokemon: Reuters
DUBAI:
Saudi Arabia's top clerical body has renewed a 15-year-old edict that the
Pokemon game franchise is un-Islamic, Saudi media said on Wednesday, although
the fatwa made no mention of the successful new Pokemon GO mobile
game.Nintendo's augmented reality app, in which players walk around real-life
neighbourhoods to hunt and catch virtual cartoon characters on their smartphone
screens, has become an instant hit around the world. The General Secretariat of
the Council of Senior Religious Scholars said it had revived a 2001 decree
against a Pokemon card game in response to queries from believers. The Council
argued that the mutations of the creatures in the game, who are given specific
powers, amounted to blasphemy by promoting the theory of natural evolution.“It
is shocking that the word 'evolution' has been much on the tongues of
children,” the fatwa read.It also said the game contained other elements
prohibited by Islamic law, including “polytheism against God by multiplying the
number of deities, and gambling, which God has forbidden in the Quran and
likened to wine and idols".The fatwa added that symbols used in the game
promoted Japan's Shinto religion, Christianity, Freemasonry and “global
Zionism".
