Jamaat e Islami Hind's appeal for help for the flood-stricken people of Kerala

Dear brothers and sisters! You must be aware that Kerala is witnessing the greatest calamity in its history. It has been struck by a tragic disaster that has already taken the lives of more than 400 people and rendered over seven lakh homeless and forced them to migrate to other secure areas. More than 50,000 houses have been completely destroyed. The losses from the ruined agricultural fields and livelihoods of people are staggering. The estimated loss is to the tune of Rs 20,000 Crore. The scale of destruction is so massive that it would literally require one to rebuild the entire state. The enormity of financial losses and destruction is such that the Government alone will not be able to fulfill all the required relief works and all well-to-do people must come forward regardless of religion and creed.

The Kerala chapter of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind along with all its members, associates and sympathizers are at the forefront of the rescue and relief works since the beginning. It has focused all its resources for the rescue, relief and rehabilitation of the people in the flood affected areas irrespective of their caste and creed.

We therefore call up one and all to come out to help the people of Kerala in this adverse situation and offer their maximum possible aid and charity. Jamaat-e-Islami Hind appeals to each and every citizen of this country to donate generously towards this noble cause and help the people of Kerala.
