Washington:US has stopped implementation of its commitments under the
Paris climate agreement signed by 195 countries in 2015, President Donald Trump
announced on Thursday, ignoring pleas from international allies and a
significant section of US political and business leaders. Accord “would
undermine our economy, hamstring our workers, weaken our sovereignty…,”Trump,
who had campaigned in the 2016 election promising to pull out from it, said.
Paris deal gives undue advantage to India and China, “world’s leading
polluters”, at the cost of US interests, Trump said, unravelling a critical
area of mutual interest and cooperation between New Delhi and Washington in
recent years. India ratified the agreement last year, and ex-President Barack
Obama considered it as a defining legacy of his tenure. Trump’s tirade against
India, whose per capita carbon emission is one-tenth of US, comes ahead of a
likely visit by PM Narendra Modi to Washington later this month. “China will be
allowed to build hundreds of additional coal plants… India will be allowed to
double its coal production by 2020. Think of it: India can double their coal
production. We’re supposed to get rid of ours,” the President said, adding that
the agreement “is less about the climate and more about other countries gaining
a financial advantage over the US.”“India makes its participation contingent on
receiving billions and billions and billions of dollars in foreign aid from
developed countries,” Trump said, of the financing commitments by developed
countries under the pact that is widely considered inadequate to deal with the
challenges of climate change.

Bhopal: Senior Jamiat leader mufti Abdul Razzak booked, 128 people arrested so far, for
inciting violence
Bhopal: Police have registered a case against senior leader of Jamiat
Ulema-e-Hind and mufti Abdul Razzak for allegedly promoting enmity between
different groups on grounds of religion under Section 153 (a) in the incident
of communal violence of Tuesday. The
case was registered against him on late evening on Thursday at Koh-e-fiza
police station here and he was yet to be arrested, the police said.On Friday
the police arrested 10 more people accused of being involved in rioting and
arson during the communal tension. The total number of arrested people so far
has reached 128.“A case has been registered against mufti Razzak under relevant
sections but he is yet to be arrested because thorough investigations are going
on. Apart from arresting 10 more people, 5 have also been detained for their
alleged involvement in communal violence. Proper verifications are being done
before arresting them because of the sensitivity of the matter,”said ASP (zone
3), Rajesh Singh Bhadauria.Mufti Razzak has been accused of promoting enmity
between the two communities by circulating pamphlets regarding the
controversial site at Hamidia Hospital which was the main reason behind the
communal tension on Tuesday evening.The situation was swiftly taken under

torched while some handcarts present in the market were damaged during the
incident. Heavy police force has been deployed in the area with about 2,000

Kolkata: As the West Bengal Govt locks horns with Centre over its
notification banning the trade of cattle at animal markets for slaughter and
meat, there has been one fallout: supply to the largest fresh milk market in
the country has halved and there has been a sharp rise in prices. Traders say
it has become very difficult to bring cows and buffaloes from UP and this has hit the milk market very hard.
The row over beef, vigilante groups, police high-handedness and the central Govt
order on cattle trade have had a ripple effect on 75-year-old market in Ganesh
Talkies area of Kolkata. Market comprises over 150 traders, dealers and
retailers who deal daily in over 1.5 lakh litres of milk. During the festive
season, milk supply rises to around 3 lakh litres per day. Ever since the row,
this daily supply has dipped to 55,000 litres of milk. “People are scared to
bring their cattle to the markets in UP. It is difficult to lead the cattle out
of the market after buying them. It is almost impossible to transport them.
Vigilante groups to police, all are snatching away the cattle. It makes no
difference to them whether the cattle has been bought for slaughter or for
milk. Our main cattle markets are located in UP includingDildarnagar which has
been shut for the past two months,” Rajesh Sinha, president of Jorasanko Dughdo
Byabshayi Samity, said.“Ours is the largest fresh milk market in the country.
The problem of procuring animals for milk started over a year ago, but the
situation has deteriorated in the last few months. Earlier, on an average, over
1.5 lakh litres of milk used to be supplied to and from the market. Now it is
half. The price used to be Rs 50-55 per litre. It has jumped to Rs 70-80 per
litre,” Sinha said.

cow as the national animal, and said, that killing a cow is equal to an act of
treason.In a similar controversy, Rajasthan High Court on Wednesday recommended
cow to be declared a national animal. “Keeping in mind Articles 48 and 51A(g)
of the Constitution and to provide legal entity for their proper protection and
conservation of cow, it is expected from the Govt that cow is declared a
national animal,” Justice Mahesh Chandra Sharma said in a 145-page order. The

grandchildren, were injured when they were hit by a police jeep whose driver
was trying to save a cow, police said. The incident in Harriya township took
place when Usha Devi, 60, and the others were walking on the road.The driver of
the police’s Dial 100 jeep lost control of the vehicle in an effort to save a
cow. Usha Devi was killed on the spot. Three people, including her two
granddaughters aged 2 and 4, were admitted to the district hospital, police

New Delhi: While most of the protests over the recent restrictions
imposed by the Centre on cattle sale and slaughter surrounded around ban on
eating beef, a large numbers of farmers and others involved in the
cattle-related trade raised the issue of attack on their livelihood. Now,
farmers are planning to approach the Supreme Court against the recent
controversial announcement made by the ministry of environment which imposed
various restrictions on sale of cattle, including cows, buffaloes and camels,
at animal markets across India. According to The Telegraph, the All India Kisan
Sabha, the farmers' wing of the CPM, has decided to approach the Supreme Court
against the new rules banning cattle sale for slaughter at animal markets. In
the farmers' petition to the apex court, one farmer from every state and Union
territory will be made a co-petitioner to underscore the wide-ranging impact of
the rules. "Many who live off the cattle economy constitute the poorest
among the peasantry. They will be the hardest hit," said Sabha general

Jaipur: Naeem Rabbani, whose hotel Hayat Rabbani was sealed on March 19
and re-opened on Thursday on the intervention of the court hosted a small
celebratory party for the group of people who rallied in his support. The
sealing of the hotel occurred on the instigation of Kamal Didi of the Mahila
Gaurakshak Samiti, who alleged that cows were being polluted in the area, as
they were fed beef and leftovers from the hotel.The magisterial court, on May
12, had ruled that the hotel was sealed illegally. Mayor Ashok Lahoti had
instructed his officials to seal the hotel on the night of March 19. Guests in
20 rooms at the hotel were forcibly vacated. Nagar Nigam argued in court that
Rabbani did not have a license to run a restaurant; the premises were found
dirty; also, the hotel did not have the services of Greenline, the agency that

New Delhi: Delhi High Court has asked a special NIA court to dispose of
the bail plea of Wasim Akram Malik, an accused in the Sept.2011 high court
blast case, within a week after taking it up.
Justice G S Sistani issued the direction after the lawyer for the
accused contended that the Supreme Court in March this year had held that bail
applications should normally be disposed of within one week by the subordinate
courts.Malik had moved the high court claiming that his bail plea was not being
heard by the special court initially on the ground that the records of the case
had been called for by the apex court and not returned. By the time the records
were received back, there was no NIA court functioning as notification
indicating the name of the presiding officer had not been issued, the bail
application had said. Malik's lawyer, Mehmood Pracha had told the high court
during the proceedings that since his client's bail plea has been pending for
some time before the trial court, it be directed to dispose it of as per the
apex court's ruling. PTI

Israel set to approve 2500 settlement housing units:aljazeera
Israel is expected to approve nearly 2,500 new settlement housing units
across the occupied West Bank next week after the projects were tabled at a
planning council meeting on Friday. Israeli NGO Peace Now said on Friday that
Israel's Civil Administration - the military body governing the occupied West
Bank - was scheduled to meet on Tuesday and Wednesday to discuss 27 separate
plans for settlement housing units across the West Bank. According to local
media reports, about 1,500 of the housing units set to be approved are in major
settlement blocs including Maaleh Adumim and Ariel, which Israel wants and
expects to annex in any potential peace deal.One of the items on the agenda
will allegedly pave the way for the construction of 102 housing units in
Amichai, the first new settlement to be officially created by the Govt in 25
years. The rest lie outside the blocs and deep within the West Bank, including
the Beit El settlement, northeast of Ramallah, and the Susiya settlement in the
South Hebron Hills.The deal comes on the heels of US President Donald Trump's
visit to Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories. Palestinians and the
majority of the international community view settlements as unlawful and a
major obstacle to a two-state solution, as they are built on land that the
Palestinians want for a future state.According to a new report published by the
European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR), both the length and
characteristics of Israel's 50-year occupation of Palestinian territory show
that it has no serious plans to relinquish territory and is moving towards

Operation Inherent Resolve coalition added 132 civilians to the total in its
April report, including 105 who died when a US aircraft dropped a bomb on an IS
sniper target in west Mosul on March 17. The bomb inadvertently set off a large
cache of explosives, collapsing a building on top of civilians sheltering
below. Inherent Resolve task force “takes all reports of civilian casualties
seriously and assesses all reports as thoroughly as possible,” the US-led task
force said in a monthly statement. It stressed only 0.27 % of its 21,035
strikes since the operation began had produced “credible” civilian death

to change their “religious” names and adults are being coerced into attending

Turkey detains PM Binali Yildirim’s advisor over alleged Fethullah Gulen

Turkish PM Binali Yildirim’s chief adviser was detained on Saturday over
suspected links to the movement of US-based cleric Fethullah Gulen blamed for
last year’s failed coup, state media reported. Birol Erdem, a former senior
justice ministry official, was taken into custody in Ankara along with his wife
Gulumser Erdem, Anadolu news agency said. He was accused of being a member of
the movement led by Gulen, the agency reported, quoting sources from the office
of the Ankara chief public prosecutor.The Turkish Govt claims Gulen ordered the
July 15 attempt to oust President Recep Tayyip Erdogan from power. Gulen, who
has lived in self-imposed exile in Pennsylvania since 1999, denies the charges.
Erdem is one of the most senior bureaucrats to be suspected of Gulen links.
